Scientists Criticize Congressional Climate Deniers

09 Mar 2011  |   Damien Shirley

Earlier today???the same day that House Energy and Power Subcommittee is holding hearings on climate science and the EPA???Politico published an opinion piece written by several climate scientists that criticizes congressional climate deniers.

In the Op-Ed, the four scientists call out House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton for trying to "overturn the scientific finding by the Environmental Protection Agency that greenhouse gasses are harmful to human health."

They accuse climate deniers in Congress of taking a "science-free approach" that "serves only the interests of oil and coal producers and other big polluters," likening fossil fuel interests to the tobacco industry for "regularly trot[ting] out discredited voices, false and disproven arguments and misleading evidence to generate doubt."
