It's been nearly a year since an explosion at the Deepwater Horizon oil rig killed 11 people and led to the worst environmental disaster in our nation's history.
Now, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Transocean???the company who managed the Deepwater Horizon rig??? is calling last year their "best year in safety performance." What's even more outrageous is that Transocean is giving its executives bonuses as a reward.
To contrast, Transocean withheld all executive bonuses in 2009 after suffering four fatalities.
As expected, this has raised the ire of several officials???Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and William Reilly, co-chair of the national oil spill commission, have both strongly criticized Transocean in light of these developments.
