U.N. Discloses Online Tool that Tracks Climate Change Progress

01 Mar 2011  |   Daniel Jacobs

Yesterday, the United Nations launched an online "Progress Tracker" to document the steps taken toward meeting climate goals set last December at the international climate conference in Canc??n, Mexico.

At the conference, representatives from 190 nations set an international climate agenda aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, acclimating global populations to climate change, slowing deforestation, funding international renewable energy programs, and developing low-carbon energy resources.

Although the conference did not produce a binding international climate treaty, the international gathering set important climate objectives and agreed on a motion to keep the rise in global temperature under 2 degrees Celsius by 2050.
