Upton's Anti-EPA Bill: Politically Toxic?

10 Feb 2011  |   Damien Shirley

Tomorrow morning, the NRDC will release the results of polls they sponsored in the districts of nine House Energy and Commerce Committee members. The polls evaluated the popularity of Rep. Upton's anti-EPA legislation, on which the Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing earlier today.

Though the specific numbers are yet to be released, NRDC has revealed that the polls will show "strong public opposition" to the bill.

The Representatives in question all "sponsored, co-sponsored or publicly indicated their support" for Rep. Upton's bill or similar legislation. The nine districts are represented by six Republicans and three Democrats: Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-CA), Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO), Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), Rep. Charlie Bass (R-NH), Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ), Rep. Mike Doyle (D-PA), Rep. Charles Gonzalez (D-TX) and Rep. Gene Green (D-TX).
