WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced its endorsement of John Lewis for Congress. Lewis will work to protect Montana’s constitutional right to clean air and water, and will support commonsense policies that grow our clean energy economy and safeguard our outdoor heritage for future generations.
“John Lewis is committed to protecting Montana’s air and water and investing in the clean energy economy of the future,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “He will support commonsense solutions that preserve our open spaces and wildlife while safeguarding our environment for generations to come.”
“John Lewis is committed to preserving Montana’s outdoor heritage, because he understands that our public lands, natural resources, clean air and water are all integral parts of our economy and our way of life,” said Montana Conservation Voters Executive Director Theresa Keaveny. “He will fight for Montanans and stand up to Washington’s special interests as he works to expand our clean energy industry and fights to protect our hunting, fishing, and agricultural industries.”
“As the father of two young kids, I believe we have a responsibility to fight for the good-paying Montana jobs that rely on our outdoor heritage,” said Lewis. “Our way of life in Montana depends on clean water for fishing, farming and ranching; open spaces for hunting and exploring; and investing in clean energy that supports good jobs today and for the long haul.”
Lewis has had a longtime commitment to conserving Montana’s pristine landscapes, natural resources and wildlife, because he understands that they are critical to Montana’s economy, and he will bring this same leadership to Congress. He will stand strong against efforts to sell public lands to the highest bidder. Lewis will also work to preserve Montana’s clean air, water and outdoor heritage, so people all across the state can enjoy hiking, hunting and fishing for generations to come.
He supports commonsense solutions that will move America towards a clean energy economy while protecting our planet for future generations. He will advocate for responsible policies that will encourage clean energy development and expand our investments in the wind and solar industries, because they will create jobs in Montana and across the country, and reduce our reliance on foreign oil.
