WASHINGTON – League of Conservation Voters Senior Vice President of Campaigns Navin Nayak issued the following statement on the American Petroleum Institute breaking the People’s Pledge with ads in support of Senator Scott Brown:

“Scott Brown’s Big Oil supporters wasted no time in breaking the People’s Pledge agreed to in January. With votes expected this week to eliminate special tax breaks for oil companies it’s no surprise that the American Petroleum Institute would run ads asking Brown to go to bat for them again. Even though Senator Brown has donated to charity, the real concern for Massachusetts citizens is that he has taken nearly $200,000 from Big Oil and has voted to give them billions in taxpayer handouts.”

Brown has received $198,660 in campaign contributions from oil and gas companies over the course of his career.  [Center for Responsive Politics]
