WASHINGTON, DC –The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund announced today that over the last five months alone, more money has now been raised or contributed for Ed Markey through its GiveGreen program than for any other candidate in the program’s history. In just five months, more than $256,000 has been raised for Markey since LCV Action Fund endorsed him in the Massachusetts Senate race in January, exceeding the previous record set last cycle.
“This is an important milestone for Ed Markey’s campaign and our GiveGreen program,” said Gene Karpinski, President of LCV Action Fund. “It’s a sign that the environmental community is engaged in this campaign like never before and is committed to helping Ed Markey win this race.”
LCV Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who promote sound environmental policies, endorsed Markey for U.S. Senate in January, highlighting how he built his career around protecting the environment and wrote landmark legislation combating climate change and protecting public health.
The GiveGreen total raised includes all contributions bundled or donated by LCV Action Fund. A full fundraising breakdown by candidate can be accessed online at http://www.givegreen.com, which is the only website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
GiveGreen is continuing to provide environmental champions with the resources they need to run and win. Last cycle, more than $2 million was raised or contributed though GiveGreen for federal candidates, including more than $100,000 each for six candidates, all of whom went on to win their race in November.
