WASHINGTON – During the second quarter of 2011 environmental donors contributed $34,522 through LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen to help elect Martin Heinrich to the U.S. Senate. These funds were raised from the grassroots support of around 500 individual donors. LCVAF’s GiveGreen website, http://lcv.org/givegreen, is the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
Navin Nayak, Senior Vice President of Campaigns at the League of Conservation Voters released the following statement in response:
“Environmental donors are ready to see Martin Heinrich continue championing clean energy policies as U.S. Senator and are willing to lay down significant resources to get him across that finish line on Election Day. These second quarter numbers prove that environmentalists are a force to be reckoned with in the New Mexico senate race and they are wholeheartedly backing Martin Heinrich.”
During his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives representing New Mexico's 1st district Rep. Heinrich has earned a perfect 100% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.* LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen raised more than $1 million for pro-environment candidates during the 2009-2010 election cycle.
