“Throughout her public service career, Bonnie Watson Coleman has fought for the people of New Jersey and worked hard to protect our environment, and she will bring this same leadership to Congress,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “She will help save consumers money by continuing to invest in energy efficiency advances and ensure that we have clean air to breathe and clean water to drink.”
"I have always been a huge proponent for taking the necessary steps to make sure we preserve and protect our environment so I am very proud to receive the support of League of Conservation Voters Action Fund today," said Watson Coleman. "There is no more precious resource than our environment and it is critically important that we fight every day to protect it because the investment we make today is one that will last for generations. If elected on November 4th I intend to go to Washington and advocate for smart investment in clean energy Research and Development that will create good jobs and help protect our environment."
Watson Coleman served in the New Jersey State General Assembly where she was the first female African American Majority Leader. In the Assembly, Watson Coleman worked tirelessly to protect New Jersey’s environment and make the state a leader in energy efficiency. A member of the Assembly Budget Committee, Watson Coleman helped to safeguard the state’s environment by securing funding for the Green Acres and Blue Acres Floodplain Acquisition programs.
If elected to Congress, she will be a strong environmental ally, who will support smart policies that combat climate change and expand our clean energy economy. She will continue to be a leader on energy efficiency and work to grow our wind and solar industries. Watson Coleman will also stand up to Big Oil and corporate polluters by supporting the EPA’s ability to issue commonsense safeguards that curb harmful carbon pollution, and will prioritize reducing our dependence on dirty fossil fuels.
