WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Joe Miklosi for the U.S. House of Representatives in Colorado’s 6th congressional district.

“Joe Miklosi is a leader who isn’t afraid to stand up to polluters who contaminate Colorado’s clean air and clean drinking water. Miklosi is committed to expanding the booming clean energy economy and creating more renewable energy jobs in Colorado,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski.

“Joe Miklosi is a lifetime 100% voter on our Conservation Scorecard from his time in the state legislature.  He understands that clean air and water and developing the promise of solar and wind energy jobs are Colorado values,” said Faith Winter, Program Director for Colorado Conservation Voters (CCV).

Throughout his years as a nonprofit executive and a Colorado State Representative, Miklosi has built a proven record as an environmental champion willing to stand up to corporate polluters, earning a stellar 100% lifetime score from CCV’s Colorado Legislative Conservation Scorecard. As a State Representative, Miklosi fought hard for greater investments in Colorado’s clean energy economy – he stood against continued taxpayer-handouts for Big Oil, and stood up for tax incentives for local companies that spur innovation and create sustainable jobs in Colorado.

In 2004, Miklosi also successfully fought for Amendment 37 which made Colorado the first state to adopt a renewable energy standard by means of a popular vote. In addition, Miklosi spearheaded a statewide program, known as Property Assessment Clean Energy (PACE), to aid over 50,000 Colorado homeowners finance renovations that make their homes more energy efficient and transition towards renewable energy sources such as wind or solar. In glaring contrast, his opponent, incumbent Rep. Mike Coffman has earned an abysmal 5% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

“I am very grateful to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund. LCV Action Fund’s endorsement in this race reminds me of the great responsibility I feel towards protecting Colorado’s rich, natural environment and to ensuring we strive to make Colorado a world leader in renewable energy jobs,” said Joe Miklosi, candidate for Colorado’s 6th congressional district.

The Colorado Legislative Conservation Scorecard is the definitive guide to environmental actions by the Colorado Legislature, and serves as a trusted measurement in holding individual members accountable for their environmental votes, regardless of party affiliation. The non-partisan LCV National Environmental Scorecard is a nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s position. For more information, visit http://www.lcv.org/scorecard.
