WASHINGTON, DC—The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Pat Murphy for Congress (IA-1). Murphy will work to grow our clean energy economy and conserve our environment.
“As a state legislator, Pat Murphy worked hard to expand Iowa’s wind industry and bring clean energy jobs to the state, a matter he’ll continue to pursue for our country as a leader on clean energy issues in Congress,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “He will advocate for the protection of our environment and the preservation of Iowa’s land and natural resources for generations to come.”
"I am honored to have the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Murphy. “In Iowa, we have shown that protecting the environment and creating jobs can and should go hand in hand, our success should be an example for the country. In Congress I will support policies that protect our environment and create good paying green jobs."
In the state legislature, Murphy helped foster Iowa’s wind energy economy, which now accounts for more than 27 percent of Iowa's annual electricity. He will continue to support commonsense solutions that make America a leader in clean energy by increasing tax incentives for wind and solar, which will create good paying jobs across the country. He will also work to grow our economy by expanding the research and development of new technologies that create more manufacturing jobs while cutting carbon pollution.
He recognizes the economic importance of Iowa’s outdoor heritage, which is why Murphy will fight against efforts to undermine conservation. Murphy will also work to preserve our waterways and wildlife habitats.
Pat Murphy is featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
