WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of State Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford (D-Las Vegas) for the U.S. House of Representatives in Nevada’s 4th District.
“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Steven Horsford for Congress in Nevada’s 4th district because he will be a champion for a clean energy economy that creates good-paying local jobs,” said Gene Karpinski, President of the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund. “Horsford is a proven leader who will fight for a cleaner, safer, and more secure future for Nevada. He will protect Nevada’s vital public land resources, hold polluters accountable, and work to ensure the air we breathe and the water we drink is safe for Nevada’s families.”
“Steven Horsford will continue to be a champion for Nevada's clean energy economy" said Jennifer Taylor, Board Chair for the Nevada Conservation League. "He has pledged to fight for the creation of the Tule Springs National Monument and to introduce protections for the Gold Butte recreation area, Nevada's slice of the Grand Canyon. These protections will help create thousands of jobs through the promotion of small businesses and recreational tourism.”
Horsford has been a dedicated public servant, serving in the Nevada State Senate since 2004. As Majority Leader, Horsford wrote and helped pass the Clean Energy Jobs Initiative, laying the foundation for a clean energy future that protects the environment and creates sustainable jobs in Nevada. Horsford recognizes that Nevada’s future depends on protecting the state’s public lands and natural resources, incentivizing investment in renewable energy, and protecting the health of Nevada’s families. Hosford earned an 82% score on Nevada Conservation League’s 2011 Conservation Scorecard. In contrast, Horsford’s opponent, Danny Tarkanian has signaled a willingness to revive nuclear waste disposal near Yucca Mountain, which would endanger Nevada’s environment and the health of its families.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund,” said Steven Horsford, candidate for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District. “In the State Senate, I fought to get Nevadans back to work by investing in renewable energy projects that will make the Silver State the nation’s clean energy capital of the future. In Congress, I will continue working to position Nevada as the leader of America’s Green Economy and spur sustainable job growth in our state. The fourth congressional district contains some of Nevada’s most pristine habitats and natural resources, and I will continue the fight to protect them,” said Steven Horsford, candidate for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District.
