Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund today announced that the organization had raised a total of $101,842 this cycle for Martin Heinrich’s New Mexico Senate campaign – the most ever that LCV Action Fund has raised for any single candidate during an election cycle. In total, LCV Action Fund has raised $375,474 for pro-environment congressional candidates this cycle through its GiveGreen program.
Navin Nayak, LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Campaigns, released the following statement on the record fundraising:
“Climate deniers and other anti-environment candidates may have the backing of Karl Rove and the Koch brothers, but the early success of our GiveGreen program clearly demonstrates that environmentalists are more motivated than ever to stand up to Big Oil and with clean energy champions like Martin Heinrich.”
LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, http://www.givegreen.com, is the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates. LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen raised more than $1 million for pro-environment candidates during the 2009-2010 election cycle, and the organization aims to surpass that total in the 2011-2012 cycle.
