More than $1.5 million already raised or contributed this election cycle
WASHINGTON, DC –The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund announced today that more than $1.5 million has already been raised or contributed through its GiveGreen program. This represents the most money ever collected through GiveGreen during a single election cycle, which includes $1.1 million bundled for candidates and $400,000 in direct candidate contributions from LCV Action Fund.
“There’s an incredible number of environmental champions on the ballot across the country in November and record enthusiasm from environmental activists who are helping defend them from relentless attacks from the Koch brothers, Big Oil and other corporate polluters,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski.
During the entire 2010 election cycle, $1.3 million had been raised or contributed through GiveGreen, including $1 million bundled for candidates. LCV Action Fund has already shattered this figure with more than a month go until Election Day, with more money being raised and bundled every day.
The latest GiveGreen totals include more than $109,000 raised or bundled for President Obama, $178,000 for Tim Kaine in Virigina, $108,900 for Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin and $168,000 Martin Heinrich in New Mexico. The full fundraising breakdown by candidate can be accessed online at http://www.givegreen.com, which is the only website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
LCV Action Fund works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies. The GiveGreen total raised includes all contributions bundled or donated by LCV Action Fund.
