WASHINGTON, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) today announced a new billboard campaign targeting Rep. Dan Lungren (CA-07) for his extreme, anti-science views on climate change that align him with Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin rather than his constituents. The mobile billboard, which will be visible across California’s 7th Congressional District through Election Day, shows the Congressman with Limbaugh and Palin and reads, “On climate change, they agree.”
“When it comes to climate change, Congressman Lungren sides with Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin over his constituents,” said Navin Nayak, LCV Senior Vice President of Campaigns.
The billboard campaign is part of LCV’s $2 million Flat Earth Five program, which Lungren was named to in August. The program aims to defeat five climate change deniers in the House of Representatives this election cycle. More information about the Flat Earth Five can be found online at http://www.lcv.org/flatearthfive.
LCV and the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) launched a $380,000 mail program last week highlighting Rep. Dan Lungren’s votes to dismantle the Clean Water Act and allow polluters to keep spewing dangerous mercury pollution into our water and air. The program includes ten flights of mail to 89,150 households in the district.
Rep. Lungren’s voting record is so bad that he’s earned an abysmal 4% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. The non-partisan scorecard is a nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s position. For more information, visit http://www.lcv.org/scorecard.
