WASHINGTON – Following last night’s primary results in Connecticut, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) today congratulated Rep. Chris Murphy for his win in the Democratic primary race. Last November, LCV Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, endorsed Murphy in the primary, citing his stellar 98% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
“Chris Murphy ran a strong primary campaign, and his message of moving our nation towards a clean energy future clearly resonated with voters,” said Navin Nayak, LCV Senior Vice President of Campaigns. “Connecticut voters care too much about our future to let Linda McMahon buy this Senate seat and give Big Oil and corporate polluters even more of a voice on Capitol Hill. We’re committed to electing Rep. Murphy in November and working with him in the Senate to create clean energy jobs and eliminate the stranglehold that rich oil companies have on our nation’s energy policy.”
The non-partisan LCV National Environmental Scorecard is a nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s position. For more information, visit http://www.lcv.org/scorecard.
