LCV Congratulates King on Victory in Senate Race
WASHINGTON – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski tonight congratulated Angus King on his victory in the Maine Senate race. LCV spent invested more than $100,000 in this race, including teaming with Sierra Club Independent Action to launch a six-figure television ad campaign highlighting his strong record on clean energy, clean air, and clean water.
“LCV entered this cycle with one major goal - to build support in Congress for addressing climate change. Angus King’s victory tonight has shown that the politics of climate change are shifting all across the country. We look forward to working with Senator-elect King to confront the climate crisis and move America towards a clean energy future,” said Karpinski.
LCV and affiliated political committees have spent nearly $14 million this cycle—more than the last three cycles combined—to defend clean energy and climate champions like President Obama and candidates for the House and Senate nationwide. Beyond our independent expenditure work, LCV Action Fund also raised and contributed more than $2 million for candidates, more than ever before.
