WASHINGTON – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski tonight congratulated Elizabeth Warren on her victory in the Massachusetts Senate race. LCV spent more than $1.1 million in this race, launching mail and field programs to help defeat Scott Brown. LCV Action Fund also raised or contributed more than $134,000 to Warren through its GiveGreen program and 718 LCV members volunteered with the Warren campaign.
“LCV entered this cycle with one major goal - to build support in Congress for addressing climate change. Elizabeth Warren’s victory tonight has shown that the politics of climate change are shifting all across the country. We look forward to working with Senator-elect Warren to confront the climate crisis and move America towards a clean energy future,” said Karpinski.
LCV and affiliated political committees have spent nearly $14 million this cycle—more than the last three cycles combined—to defend clean energy and climate champions like President Obama and candidates for the House and Senate nationwide. Beyond our independent expenditure work, LCV Action Fund also raised and contributed more than $2 million for candidates, more than ever before.
