Portsmouth, NH — Today the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) hosted a climate action rally in support of the Clean Power Plan (CPP), which places the first-ever limits on the amount of carbon pollution power plants can spew into our air. Community and business leaders, from across the state, joined to discuss the importance of the CPP in capping carbon emission while protecting our health and environment.
“Today’s discussion and rally highlighted just how important climate action is to New Hampshire residents, and illustrated the vast support, in the state, for commonsense solutions like the Clean Power Plan,” said Rob Werner, LCV New Hampshire State Director. “The Clean Power Plan will not only protect New Hampshire’s environment and health, but also grow our clean energy economy.”
“We have a moral obligation to combat climate change,” said Ben Cohen, Co-Founder of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. “The Clean Power Plan is a critical opportunity to decrease our carbon emissions in order to protect our health and environment while creating jobs. The public supports this effort to limit dangerous carbon pollution and protect our planet for generations to come. However, our opponents are well funded and our political leaders are trapped in a campaign finance system that is putting special interest ahead of voters.”
