WASHINGTON – League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement on amendments to Senate transportation legislation voted on today:
“The failure of today's amendment to extend clean energy tax incentives that will promote innovation and broaden America’s clean energy options is deeply disappointing. A successful transportation bill should create more clean energy options for American families, not limit them. For this reason we commend those senators who voted against efforts that would altogether end critical investments in clean energy.
We also applaud those senators who voted against efforts that would give away our beaches and special places like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to Big Oil.
LCV is encouraged that the Senate is expected to pass this bipartisan bill that takes steps toward a 21st century transportation system. We encourage the House to abandon its deeply flawed proposal and swiftly pass this bill that puts Americans back to work fixing our nation’s crumbling infrastructure."
