OHIO  – Today, the League of Conservation Voters launched a second TV ad in Ohio thanking Senator Sherrod Brown for supporting efforts in Congress to bring clean energy and manufacturing jobs to the state. The new television ad doubles the existing six-figure buy and will run on broadcast in the Columbus media market over the next week. The effort will continue to be complemented by targeted online advertising. The advertising campaign comes after Senator Brown recently voted to extend key renewable energy provisions that contribute to Ohio’s growing clean energy industry.[S.Amdt.1812, Senate Vote 39, 3/13/12] Senator Brown also today joined a bipartisan majority in the U.S. Senate in voting for the Repeal Big Oil Tax Subsidies Act, legislation to repeal billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies to the nation’s most profitable oil companies and direct the savings toward investments in clean energy and energy efficiency. [S. 2204, Senate Vote 63, 3/29/12]

"While some in Ohio are dismissive of clean energy, this ad highlights that it is one of the fastest growing sectors in the state, which is why Senator Brown has fought to bring these jobs home,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski.  “Apparently some politicians would be fine letting those jobs go to China or Mexico."

Senator Brown has consistently voted to ensure Ohio is able to produce the clean energy equipment and technologies needed to create a thriving new energy economy. Among the provisions Brown voted to extend in March are two critical programs that he helped pass in the first place: the Clean Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit, which has provided nearly $125 million to seven Ohio manufacturers to help create clean energy jobs, and the Treasury Department’s 1603 program for renewable energy generation, which has thus far awarded over $88 million to more than 130 Ohio companies. [HR1, Senate Vote 64, 2/13/09; Department of Energy State Memo; Treasury Department, Section 1603 Awards].  During his time in the Senate, Senator Brown has also introduced legislation of his own to extend the Clean Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit, grow offshore wind energy, and help manufacturers transition to the clean energy economy.
