OHIO  – Today, the League of Conservation Voters launched a new ad campaign in Ohio thanking Senator Sherrod Brown for supporting efforts in Congress to bring clean energy and manufacturing jobs to the state. The television ad will run on broadcast in the Columbus media market over the next two weeks and will be complemented by targeted online advertising. The ad comes after Senator Brown recently voted to extend key renewable energy provisions that contribute to Ohio’s growing clean energy industry.[S.Amdt.1812, Senate Vote 39, 3/13/12]

"In a Congress full of do-nothing obstructionists, Senator Brown has shown that he'll do whatever it takes to keep clean energy and manufacturing jobs in Ohio," said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “Senator Brown’s continued leadership in the Senate is vital to getting Ohioans back on the job manufacturing the next generation of clean and renewable energy.”

Senator Brown has consistently voted to ensure Ohio is able to produce the clean energy equipment and technologies needed to create a thriving new energy economy. Among the provisions Brown voted to extend last week are two critical programs that he helped pass in the first place: the Clean Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit, which has provided nearly $125 million to seven Ohio manufacturers to help create clean energy jobs, and the Treasury Department’s 1603 program for renewable energy generation, which has thus far awarded over $88 million to more than 130 Ohio companies. [HR1, Senate Vote 64, 2/13/09; Department of Energy State Memo; Treasury Department, Section 1603 Awards].  During his time in the Senate, Senator Brown has also introduced legislation of his own to extend the Clean Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit, grow offshore wind energy, and help manufacturers transition to the clean energy economy.
