WASHINGTON D.C. - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) and Majority PAC today launched an $800,000 television ad campaign outlining how sending George Allen back to Washington would be a loss for Virginians and a win for millionaires, companies that ship American jobs overseas and Big Oil companies. The ad, “Who Loses,” starts airing tomorrow through Election Day on cable and broadcast in the Norfolk, Richmond and Charlottesville media markets.
“If George Allen makes it back to the Senate, he would leave Virginia families behind and reward Big Oil, millionaires and companies sending American jobs overseas," said Navin Nayak, LCV Senior Vice President for Campaigns.
"With his special promises to corporations and special interests, George Allen has made it clear that helping millionaires hang onto their tax breaks is his top priority," said J.B. Poersch, strategist for Majority PAC. "Instead of fighting for Virginia families, Allen will be a down-the-line vote for companies that outsource jobs and for Big Oil."
The ad highlights that Allen voted against repealing tax breaks for companies that ship American jobs overseas, signed a pledge safeguarding tax cuts and tax breaks for millionaires, supports extending the Bush tax cuts for millionaires and criticized a bill to repeal billions in oil industry tax breaks.
In August, LCV and Majority PAC launched a $1.6 million aadvertising campaign targeting Allen's cozy relationship with special interests like the oil and gas industry. The ad campaign responded to dubious attacks from Karl Rove's American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS and highlighted Allen's history of voting against Virginia families, including his support for adding trillions to the debt, voting to raise his own pay four times and handing out special tax breaks to oil companies.
