Memo details Burr’s environmental record & American Bridge web video explores ties to Trump

Washington, DC – Today, LCV named incumbent Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) to its signature “Dirty Dozen” list for the 2016 election.

“Richard Burr earned his place on the Dirty Dozen because he is so far outside the mainstream – he votes in lock-step with his Big Polluter allies, who have contributed nearly $1.7 million to prop up his campaigns, and ignores the health and climate impacts in North Carolina,” said LCV National Campaigns Director Clay Schroers. “The simple fact is that Burr has an extreme environmental agenda straight from the polluter playbook; he wants to abolish the EPA, roll back protections for North Carolinians clean air and water, and denies the reality of climate change. Burr’s policies sound an awful lot like those of Trump, the divisive and racist GOP nominee for president. We’re ready to make sure North Carolina voters are aware of Burr’s dismal environmental record.”

LCV Victory Fund also announced an “Interested Parties” memo, detailing Burr’s awful environmental record, radical positions, and support for Donald Trump.

You can find the memo online here.

In addition, LCV Victory Fund is also announcing the release of a new web video by American Bridge 21st Century on how Donald Trump and Richard Burr are a threat to North Carolina with their radical positions on climate and environmental protection.

You can view the web video here.

“During his decades long career in Washington, Senator Richard Burr has become Mr. Special Interests,” said American Bridge President Jessica Mackler. “He isn't just your average Republican beholden to the wants and needs of corporations. Burr always goes above and beyond the call of duty for the Kochs and Big Oil, bringing a new meaning to 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' in D.C. Now, Burr is endorsing Donald Trump's dangerous agenda, once again picking billionaires and millionaires over North Carolina. Senator Burr can't be trusted to protect the Tar Heel state, he's too busy being a puppet for corporate interests.”

For 20 years, LCV’s Dirty Dozen has targeted candidates— regardless of party affiliation — who consistently side against the environment and are running in races in which LCV has a serious chance to affect the outcome. Last cycle, LCV defeated seven of the 12 Dirty Dozen candidates. In the last presidential year of 2012, LCV defeated 11 of 12.
