WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement ahead of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee mark up later today, where a vote is expected on President Obama’s nomination of Gina McCarthy to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“Gina McCarthy has demonstrated throughout her career that she is a supremely qualified nonpartisan public servant who is ideally suited to lead the EPA.  We cannot afford to let politics stand in the way of this nomination and jeopardize the EPA’s ability to do its job. It’s past time for the EPW Committee Republicans to rise above partisanship and move this nomination forward.”
