WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement ahead of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing this morning to consider President Obama’s nomination of Gina McCarthy to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“Gina McCarthy will show the Committee why Senators from both parties easily confirmed her to lead the EPA’s clean air division just a few years ago. She puts progress before partisanship and has worked tirelessly to defend public health. This nomination is a chance to put a bipartisan problem solver at the head of the entire agency, so we can keep making progress combating the climate crisis, protecting our air and water, and reducing the threat of toxic chemicals.”
