WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released the following statement ahead of a vote in the House today on H.R. 3826, legislation that would turn a blind eye to the climate crisis by allowing power plants to continue spewing unlimited amounts of carbon pollution into the air:

“This extreme bill would gut the EPA’s ability to cut carbon pollution, prevent EPA scientists from doing their job, and let power plants continue to spew unlimited amounts of carbon pollution into our air. It fails to live up to our moral obligation to confront the climate crisis. We already limit arsenic, mercury, lead and other pollution from power plants and it is just common sense that we do the same thing for the pollution driving climate change. Advancing this legislation is the surest sign yet that Republican leaders in the House are more committed to doing the bidding of corporate polluters than protecting public health.”
