LCV Statement as Senate Begins Budget Votes

WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement as the Senate begins voting on a series of amendments to Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray’s budget proposal today:   

“Chairman Murray has drafted a common sense budget, and this process shouldn’t be used to turn it into a giveaway for Big Oil and corporate polluters. The Senate should reject anti-environmental amendments that threaten our air and water and attempt to rush a decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.”
