WASHINGTON - League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement on today’s Congressional hearing on the Toxic Substances Control Act:

“We applaud Environment and Public Works Chairman Boxer and Superfund, Toxics and Environmental Health Chairman Lautenberg for hosting this Congressional hearing to address the critical need to update the Toxic Substances Control Act. With tens of thousands of dangerous chemicals going unregulated, it is essential that we improve upon this very dated and inadequate law to protect the health of families in the home and workers on the job. We call on Congress to commit to a complete overhaul of the Toxic Substances Control Act in the 112th Congress.”
