WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski released this statement following reports that Heather Zichal, President Obama’s top energy and climate change advisor, plans to leave the White House in the coming weeks:

“Heather Zichal has been a tremendous leader in the fight against climate change.  Throughout her career, and especially during her time with President Obama, Ms. Zichal has worked tirelessly to cut carbon pollution and promote a clean energy future.  She has played a critically important role in many historic accomplishments, including improved fuel efficiency standards, safeguards for mercury and other toxic air pollution, and the ongoing work to cut carbon pollution from power plants.  America is better off today because of her commitment to a cleaner, safer world.”
