WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement on the House Appropriations Interior-Environment Subcommittee mark-up of a spending bill today that would make steep cuts to the EPA’s budget, zero out funding for land acquisition under the Land and Water Conservation Fund and prevent efforts by the President to combat climate change:

“This extreme spending bill doesn’t live up to our moral obligation to confront the climate crisis. We are thankful to Rep. Moran and others who are speaking out and appropriately expressing outrage at this harmful attempt to slash vital conservation measures. Despite the American people’s strong support for action on climate, anti-science politicians are determined to prevent President Obama’s efforts at every turn. We’re committed to working with the President to finally set a limit on carbon pollution from power plants and enact his common sense climate plan.”
