WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski released this statement on the passing of Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ):

“There was no greater champion for protecting children from toxic chemicals than Senator Frank Lautenberg.  In addition to working to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act, he was a powerful voice on the Environment and Public Works Committee, wrote the Toxics Release Inventory, and was a longtime leader on Superfund issues.  He earned a stellar 96% lifetime score on the non-partisan LCV National Environmental Scorecard.  Senator Lautenberg was a tireless ally who leaves an important environmental legacy, and we will miss him immeasurably.”
