LCV Statement on the Interior Department’s Proposed Fracking Rules

WASHINGTON – League of Conservation Voters Legislative Representative Alex Taurel issued the following statement on the release of the Obama administration’s draft rules for hydraulic fracturing on America’s public lands:

“The Obama administration has an opportunity to stand up to the oil companies and protect Americans against the dangers of fracking.  While these are only proposed rules and are not perfect, they correctly recognize that the American people have a fundamental right to know what chemicals oil companies are dumping into their lands and water.  We will continue working with the administration to ensure that the final rules are as strong as possible and contain robust protections for Americans’ health and environment.”
