WASHINGTON – League of Conservation Voters Legislative Representative Alex Taurel issued the following statement on the release of the Obama Administration’s new Forest Planning Rule, which will govern how our national forests are managed for decades to come:

"The Forest Service’s proposal takes positive steps for conservation, particularly when it comes to protecting critical water resources in our National Forests that Americans count on for swimming, fishing, and drinking.  We also welcome the elevated role that science will play in how our forests are managed.  The key to this rule will be implementation, and we look forward to working with the Forest Service to ensure that these conservation standards are enforced in a way that safeguards our water and wildlife for generations to come."
