WASHINGTON, DC – League of Conservation Voters (LCV) President Gene Karpinski released this statement about the Obama Administration’s finalization of its Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for solar energy development on public lands in the Southwest:

“President Obama’s plan is a big deal for solar energy.  We commend his Administration for developing an innovative path forward for tapping America’s abundant solar resources on public lands in the Southwest while protecting environmentally sensitive areas.  Solar power has already more than doubled under President Obama.  His roadmap will continue growing the clean energy economy that’s creating jobs, making America more energy independent, and cutting pollution that’s harming our health and disrupting the climate.”
