WASHINGTON D.C. - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Victory Fund and House Majority PAC today launched a $700,000 television ad campaign outlining that while Texas families are working harder than ever, Rep. Francisco Canseco (TX-23) is playing by a different set of rules - he was sued for deception by small business clients, voted to give millionaires like himself a huge tax cut and protected tax breaks for corporations shipping American jobs overseas. The ad, “Play By The Rules,” begins airing today through Election Day in the San Antonio media market.
“Instead of standing up for Texas families, Rep. Canseco’s career in Congress has been defined by his efforts to help millionaires like himself and companies that send American jobs overseas," said Navin Nayak, LCV Senior Vice President for Campaigns.
"There's just no question that Quico Canseco is out of touch with Texas," said Alixandria Lapp, Executive Director of House Majority PAC. "After all, Canseco not only voted to give millionaires a huge tax cut but also backed a plan that gives tax cuts to companies that ship American jobs overseas."
The ad highlights how Canseco was sued for deception by small businessmen, voted for the extreme Ryan budget that provides huge new tax cuts for millionaires like himself and voted to protect tax deductions for companies that send American jobs overseas to places like China. Also today, LCV is launching a Spanish language version of the ad "Play By The Rules", backed by a $140,000 ad buy that will run in the San Antonio media market through Election Day. LCV is also launching an $80,000 ad buy in the El Paso market for another Spanish language ad, "Build," which highlights Canseco's opposition to clean energy and his denial of climate change. Backup for "Build," which will air through Election Day, can be found here.
