WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released this statement on Mayor Emanuel’s announcement this week that he has teamed up with Coca-Cola to expand recycling across Chicago:

“Recycling is a small thing that makes a big difference. This kind of partnership will bring more recycling to the city and lead the way toward a cleaner, greener Chicago. Rahm Emanuel was a strong environmental ally in Congress, and we’re thrilled he’s bringing the same leadership to the city of Chicago,” said Jeff Gohringer, National Press Secretary for the League of Conservation Voters.

In Congress, Emanuel earned a 90% lifetime score on LCV’s non-partisan National Environmental Scorecard, a nationally accepted yardstick used to rate members of Congress on environmental and clean energy issues. Based on key environmental votes in the House and Senate, it is often used by the media to quickly describe a Member’s position. For more information, visit http://scorecard.lcv.org.
