WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Scott Brown voted against a bipartisan majority in the U.S. Senate that voted for the Repeal Big Oil Tax Subsidies Act, legislation to repeal billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies to the nation’s most profitable oil companies and direct the savings toward investments in clean energy and energy efficiency. [S. 2204, Senate Vote 63, 3/29/12]

League of Conservation Voters Senior Vice President of Campaigns Navin Nayak issued the following statement in response:

“Senator Brown may wear a barn jacket to pretend like he’s a man of the people, but when you vote to give oil companies $24 billion in subsidies, Americans know that you’re just another slick politician.”

Senator Brown has received $198,660 in campaign contributions from oil and gas companies over the course of his career.  [Center for Responsive Politics]
