MONTANA - Today, Senator Tester and the U.S. Senate rejected reckless amendments to block the enforcement of commonsense safeguards to curb harmful air pollution and protect public health. These amendments threaten the landmark Clean Air Act: a law that has saved hundreds of thousands of lives and cost-effectively spurred innovation throughout its 40 year history.
LCV President Gene Karpinski and Montana Conservation Voters Executive Director Theresa Keaveny released the following joint statement in response:
“We applaud Senator Tester for voting against dangerous legislation that would jeopardize the health of Montana families. While many senators today voted to protect polluter profits and weaken public health protections, Senator Tester rightly defended vital clean air safeguards to curb harmful pollution and protect public health.”
