Today the House of Representatives voted to pass the Omnibus Public Land Management Act, a bill that will permanently protect millions of acres of American land and water. The bill passed the Senate last week and President Obama is expected to sign it soon. League of Conservation Voters Legislative Representative Hasan Nazar issued the following statement:
“By passing this legislation, Congress expanded our nation’s commitment to protect and preserve our natural heritage. Thanks to this act, our children will be able to enjoy two million acres of land and over 1,000 miles of rivers that might otherwise have been despoiled.
“The broad bipartisan support for this bill further demonstrates a new era for America’s relationship to its environment, putting long-term preservation above short-sighted profiteering. We look forward to watching President Obama sign this bill into law.”
