Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, today announced its endorsement of Bryan Lentz for election to the U.S. House of Representatives representing Pennsylvania’s 7th district.

“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Bryan Lentz for the U.S. House of Representatives because he knows from his experience in Iraq that instead of spending billions on foreign oil, we should be investing in clean, secure energy sources right here in America,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “Bryan Lentz will work in Congress to enact common sense energy policies that create jobs in Pennsylvania while ensuring that America leads the 21st century’s clean energy economy.”

As a veteran of the Iraq War and a former Army Airborne Ranger, Lentz has seen firsthand the connection between our addiction to oil and threats to our national security. He will fight for a national commitment to the development of renewable energy, green technology and energy independence.  He is also committed to working to provide tax cuts to companies that take advantage of innovative renewable energy technologies like wind and solar, and will work to defend and strengthen current clean air and clean water protections.*

"I am honored to receive this endorsement from the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, an organization with a long history of promoting the effort to end our nation's dependence on foreign oil and creating jobs in the new green economy," Lentz said. "A lot of work still needs to be done to give our nation a common-sense energy policy, and with the aid of groups like the LCV we will keep moving this country forward."

As a member of the Appropriations Committee in the Pennsylvania House, Lentz has worked tirelessly to create clean energy jobs and promote the use of alternative energy technologies. ** In Congress, he will continue to work to pass clean energy and climate legislation that will create more than 70,000 jobs in Pennsylvania alone*** because he believes that America’s energy security is inextricably linked to our ability to compete in the global economy.

“With one of the best environmental voting records in the Pennsylvania legislature, Brian Lentz has proven his dedication to the health and safety of the people he represents,” said Josh McNeil, Executive Director of Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania. “His deep understanding of clean energy and environmental issues makes him an ideal choice to represent Pennsylvania and the 7th District in Washington.”

Lentz supports ambitious goals to reduce harmful carbon pollution, and believes that incentivizing the production and consumption of clean energy will help us to meet these ambitious requirements while creating the kind of jobs that America needs to lead the 21st century’s global economy. ****

Lentz is also featured on LCVAF’s GiveGreen website, http://lcv.org/givegreen, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
