Washington, DC - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, today announced its endorsement of David Reichert (WA-08) for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Reichert has a solid LCV lifetime environmental score of 62% and received a commendable 79% LCV score for his voting record in the 110th Congress.* In 2009, Rep. Reichert’s support was crucial to the House passage of the American Clean Energy and Security Act.

“We are proud to endorse Congressman Reichert for re-election because he supports policies that will not only build a clean energy economy that gets Washington’s workers back on the job, but will also reduce our dependence on foreign oil and curb harmful pollution,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski.

In the 110th Congress, Rep. Reichert took many pro-environment positions. He has long supported tougher fuel-economy standards for cars and trucks and advocated for expanding protections of Washington’s wilderness.** In 2009, he voted for passage of the Omnibus Public Land Management Act and supported efforts to increase funding to improve our nation’s drinking water.

Rep. Reichert is also featured on LCVAF’s GiveGreen website, http://lcv.org/givegreen, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
