CONCORD, NH - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, today announced its endorsement of Representative Paul Hodes for U.S. Senate.
“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Congressman Paul Hodes for U.S. Senate because he understands that instead of spending billions on foreign oil, we should be investing in clean, secure energy sources right here in America,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “He has been a champion in the U.S. House and we know as senator he will add to bipartisan efforts to implement clean energy and climate policies that will make America more energy independent, reduce harmful carbon pollution and bring clean energy jobs to New Hampshire.”
Rep. Hodes has been a true environmental champion in the House of Representatives, as underscored by his 100% LCV lifetime environmental score.* He is one of only five current representatives to earn a perfect lifetime score of 100% after serving at least one full term.
Rep. Hodes voted for the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 because he recognizes that it will create thousands of clean energy jobs in New Hampshire and bring the U.S. one step closer to greater energy independence. He also supported the single largest investment in clean energy in history – more than $80 billion for energy efficiency, renewable energy and public transit in the economic recovery package, with substantial investments going to New Hampshire.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters,” said Congressman Hodes. “We owe it to our children and our grandchildren to clean up our act. That means ending our dependence on foreign oil, reducing the effects of climate change, and promoting alternative energies like biomass – something that is plentiful throughout New Hampshire. These are the things I have fought for as a public servant."
Rep. Hodes not only consistently votes right, but is also a real leader on these issues. He is a member of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Caucus (SEEC). He also authored a provision to encourage local schools to run on alternative energy and worked to increase fuel efficiency standards so that American cars will run further on a gallon of a gas.
Rep. Hodes is also featured on LCV Action Fund’s GiveGreen website, http://lcv.org/givegreen, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
Paid for by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, www.lcv.org, and authorized by Paul Hodes for Senate.
