CONNECTICUT — Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), which works to turn environmental values into national priorities, celebrated the election of Richard Blumenthal to the U.S. Senate.
"LCV congratulates Richard Blumenthal on his election to the U.S. Senate," said LCV President Gene Karpinski. "Richard Blumenthal supports efforts to bring new clean energy jobs to Connecticut and make America less dependent on oil, and LCV is thrilled that as Senator he will be able to push for clean energy reforms in the 112th Congress."
LCV also applauded the re-election of LCV-supported Rep. Jim Himes (CT-4). "Representative Himes stood up to the Big Oil companies in supporting comprehensive energy and climate legislation that would create clean energy jobs, reduce our dependence on oil and curb harmful carbon pollution," added Karpinski.
