NEW MEXICO — Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), which works to turn environmental values into national priorities, celebrated the re-election of Representatives Martin Heinrich (NM-1) and Ben Ray Lujan (NM-3).
"LCV congratulates Martin Heinrich HeineH and Ben Ray Lujan on their re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives," said LCV President Gene Karpinski. "Representatives Heinrich and Lujan voted for comprehensive energy and climate legislation that would create new clean energy jobs, make America more energy independent and curb harmful carbon pollution, and LCV is thrilled that they will be able to continue this good work in the 112th Congress."
LCV also expressed disappointment that Rep. Harry Teague was not re-elected.
New Mexico campaign highlights:
LCV, and its connected political committees LCV Action Fund and LCV Victory Fund, spent $5.5 million electing pro-environment candidates in the 2010 election cycle. Additionally, LCV Action contributed or raised more than $1.3 million for pro-environment candidates — the most ever contributed or raised by the organization in an election cycle.
