WASHINGTON, DC – The League of Conservation Voters today applauded the bipartisan spirit which led to passage of important conservation legislation in both houses of Congress.

Senator Bingaman’s Consolidated Natural Resources Act (S. 2739) and the National Landscape Conservation System Act (H.R. 2016) permanently protect millions of acres of public land, preserving many of America’s natural treasures for future generations.  The Clean Energy Tax Stimulus Act of 2008, authored by Senators Ensign and Cantwell, maintains tax incentives vital to America’s clean energy future.

“The passage of these bills proves that conservation and global warming are non-partisan issues,” LCV President Gene Karpinski said.  “Every American benefits from the protection of wild spaces and the growth of clean energy, and today, we can be proud of many our elected leaders for looking to the future and passing these important pieces of legislation.”
