WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the Senate voted to pass President Obama's Economic Recovery Package, a bill that includes the largest investment in clean, renewable energy in our nation's history. League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski issued the following statement:
"The Conference Committee should move quickly to produce a final bill that includes the best clean energy proposals from both the House and Senate bills. Today, America faces the twin challenges of a failing economy and global warming. This economic recovery package starts to address both by investing in clean, renewable, American sources of energy that will create jobs and protect our planet.
“LCV urges members of both chambers and both parties to fund energy efficiency and clean energy and put Americans back to work by quickly passing this bill and sending it to President Obama for his signature. Neither our economy nor our planet can afford to wait."
