WASHINGTON, DC - The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund (LCVAF), which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, today announced its endorsement of Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-02) for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. LoBiondo has a lifetime LCV score of 75%*, the highest of any current House member of the Republican Party.
“LCV Action Fund is thrilled to endorse Congressman LoBiondo for re-election," said LCVAF President Gene Karpinski said. "Rep. LoBiondo consistently supports measures to help build a clean energy economy that will create jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and protect the planet.”
Rep. LoBiondo has set a standard for bipartisanship in the U.S. House on clean energy and conservation legislation. He was one of the eight Republicans to vote for the House-passed American Clean Energy and Security Act in June that would help create over 47,000 clean energy jobs in New Jersey**, reduce carbon pollution and increase energy independence. Rep. LoBiondo is a strong believer that by investing in American innovation, we can find real solutions to our energy problems that will cut our dangerous dependence on foreign oil.
LoBiondo, whom LCVAF previously endorsed in 2006 and 2008, also is a strong advocate of protecting New Jersey's coastline and preserving the natural and historical heritage of his home state. He has introduced legislation to permanently ban oil and gas drilling off the New Jersey coast. In addition, Rep. LoBiondo has secured federal funding to enhance the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge and supported the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail.
Congressman LoBiondo is also featured on LCVAF’s GiveGreen website, http://lcv.org/givegreen, the only bundling website devoted exclusively to raising money for environmental champions and candidates.
