WASHINGTON - Today, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), which works to turn environmental values into national priorities, announced the endorsement of Judy Baker for Congress in the election for Missouri's 9th Congressional District.
"Judy Baker will be a powerful champion for Missouri and for clean, renewable energy," said LCV President Gene Karpinski. "She knows that clean energy will bring thousands of jobs to Missouri and will fight to bring those jobs home."
Judy Baker is a State Representative who has successfully passed three bills out of committee that promoted renewable energy, including a low interest loan program that would have helped consumers and businesses with the upfront costs of renewable energy modifications like solar panels. She also strongly supports the creation of a new, stronger independent Inspector General appointed by the President to increase oversight on energy futures trading.
"Making real investments in clean energy will protect our planet, decrease our dependence on oil, and strengthen Missouri’s economy," said Baker. "I am honored to receive this endorsement from the League of Conservation Voters and will work with LCV to bring clean energy to Missouri."
Baker's energy plans include closing the loopholes that allow energy speculators to manipulate the market for personal profit, ending subsidies for Big Oil, and investing in local businesses that develop domestic and renewable energy.
"Congress needs leaders like Judy Baker who will fight to end our dependence on foreign oil and lead us to a clean, renewable energy future," said Karpinksi.
