LCV Statement Denouncing Senate Passage of Energy Conference Report and Outlining Missed Opportunities

WASHINGTON - League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Legislative Director Tiernan Sittenfeld today released the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed the Energy Conference Report.

"In its rush to pass an energy bill before the August recess, the U.S. Senate approved a final bill that is far worse than the one it passed in June.

"In the future, we hope that Congress will address many missed opportunities, such as taking meaningful steps to expand renewable and alternative energy sources, reducing dependence on foreign oil, and providing relief to consumers. The American people deserve a clean, secure, forward-looking energy future, instead of special interest giveaways for already profitable energy industries, harmful environmental rollbacks, and failed policies of the past."
